The Swan

We went for an incredible Sunday roast at The Swan, and it never disappoints. It’s a really beautiful pub and somewhere we’ve visited over the years – consistently excellent food and atmosphere. We started with bloody marys, which were unfortunately extremely spicy at first, but the staff were very helpful and quickly sorted them out for us. We had booked for the bar area but were seated in the restaurant instead – both are lovely settings, so it didn’t matter either way. For mains, I went for the trio roast, as did many others on the table. The meats were all excellent, with the pork being the standout for me. The portion was very generous and beautifully presented. We also added the cauliflower cheese (extra charge), which was really tasty. Desserts were also a highlight. We tried a few across the table, with a special mention to the carrot cake with ice cream, which was fantastic, and the crumble, which can be added for £5 after a main. I had the cheese board, which was an incredible selection of cheeses. We also ordered some extra bread, which wasn’t included, but the staff were very accommodating and helpful throughout. Service was a little slow at times, but it was clearly a busy Sunday and understandable. Overall, a 10/10 experience – amazing roast, beautiful setting, and we’ll definitely be back.
