The Three Horseshoes

We visited the Three Horseshoes yesterday (27 April 26). After an intiial error on my part, thinking I had carefully booked on line in advance, I had not completed the booking (or would have received both a phone call and email confirmation). Despite this we were quickly and sympathetically allotted a table for four on the terrace in glorious sunshine to complement the most attractive setting. We were almost completely alcohol free and so are unable to comment on the wine-list but the food was exceptionally good. To open the batting, friends both had white asparagus, which came as a most generous helping with very thoughtful presentation and was unanimously declared delicious. I had a stonking fish soup, presented with deep rich colour and a central swirl of golden aioli. It was almost a meal in itself with good complex marine flavours and depth of texture. The Boss - with diminished appettite these days - opted out of a starter but elected the grilled cod served on a bed of rich aromatic spinach and topped with a rich, creamy hollandaise sauce. Two of us enjoyed the pork schnitzel, lightly fried in breadcrumbs and served with a shout of wake-up Kimchi and radish slaw. Our friend opted for the Angus beef pie, beautifully presented in its own ceramic boat with puff pastry to die for encasing its rich generous meat and sauce. We had little space for puddings and settled for a good cafetière of ground coffee served at our request in china rather than the glasses originally offered (Mmmm...). We were served at table by Mia and Robyn who neatly balanced personable, unobtrusive friendliness with good observant service. Behind the scenes, Josh, Callum, and Tiffany are clearly keeping the ship afloat and in ful sail. Well done Team3HS!
