The Pony Chew Valley restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.6
We went here as a catch up with friends. They’re from Bristol so recommended as they have been before. Wanted to write a review as I think I would want to know if I was a restaurant owner. The price point obviously meant we had higher expectations. The food was only ‘ok’, especially dissatisfaction for the £380 bill (4 adults, 2 kids and a toddler) Like what other reviews have said, the food was ‘warm’ at best. The food could do with a little more flavour, like pairing unusual things together or with more seasoning ?? I don’t know! I’m not a chef but I know I’ve eat better food than this! Maybe some salt and pepper on the tables would have helped. The £5 for a small plate of tasteless carrots was disappointing. The most confusing part was as when I asked the waiter, whether the food was organic. He proceeded to ask us what makes food organic then? I think a little education for
Your staff would go a long way, as it doesn’t seem to be in keeping with what you’re trying to do. We were met with, ‘some of it is organic’. A bit more transparency wouldn’t go miss here. Also as other reviews have said, the price point you expect great ‘personal’ service, from staff who are into the ethos of the company too.
