The view from the car park is stunning and a great start to what is a wonderful dining experience. It's a small, wiggly old building but with wheelchair access. The staff are friendly and chatty and they know a thing or two when it comes to their menu. We went for a Sunday lunch and booked a table for 5pm (they stop serving food at 6pm I believe). The drinks were quick to arrive along with an exciting looking menu. The roast beef was cooked rare and to perfection; the pork was beautifully done and the roast potatoes were great. The vegetables that accompanied the mains were interesting with a slight twist on your traditional sides. The Pavlova with raspberries and lemon curd was quite easily my favourite dessert to date. The floral finishing touches added texture and taste to a fresh dish. A must. We got chatting to a member of staff about their taster menu which sounded brilliant, so we're already planning another visit. Can't recommend it enough.

Our Review of The Pony and Trap (February 2017)

Whilst travelling down to Devon for a family holiday with my wife and young daughter, I consulted this very website for a quality restaurant we could stop at on the way (well, without too much of a detour). Step forward The Pony and Trap; holder of a precious star from our favourite tyre munching inspectors, as well as a place on the recently released Sunday Times Top 100 restaurants....
