The Falcon Inn restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.4
Wanted to try something new, so we visited the Falcon Inn in Fotheringhay.
Overall, it was an interesting experience, but not somewhere I would return to.
For food, my boyfriend’s mum and I ordered the cauliflower steak with chimichurri, triple-fried fries, onion rings, and Portobello mushrooms. Unfortunately, the cauliflower steak was disappointing. I felt it needed some sort of gravy or sauce alongside it. The chimichurri was described to us as being similar to a salsa, but it tasted more like olive oil with herbs. There was no noticeable garlic flavour and absolutely no spice. The dish definitely needs some improvement.
My boyfriend and his dad ordered pizzas, including the Picante Meat Feast. The restaurant has a wood-fired pizza area in the garden where you can watch the pizzas being made fresh, which looked fantastic and really built expectations. However, both of them felt the pizzas were too soft and not fully cooked.
To finish, we had lattes. My boyfriend’s mum said it was one of the best lattes she had ever tasted, so that’s definitely a positive.
The staff were fine and polite, although I wouldn’t say the service was exceptional.
The interiors were amazing, and the garden area was especially lovely. We booked our table 3–4 hours in advance because it was a Saturday night and expected it to be packed, but it was much quieter than anticipated.
One of the highlights of visiting Fotheringhay is the history. The village is closely associated with Mary, Queen of Scots, who was imprisoned at Fotheringhay Castle before her execution.
Overall, it was worth visiting once for the atmosphere, history, and surroundings. However, based on our experience with the food, I wouldn’t return. It felt more like a one-time experience than somewhere I’d choose to visit again.
Forgot to write about the desserts
🍨 they were amazing!
