I met my husband for lunch today at The Talbot Hotel and was extremely disappointed with the service in the eatery. As he was on his lunch break we ordered and paid for our main course and dessert together to save time.
The cake and tea arrived before the main course and when I queried it, I was told that we did not specify, when ordering our food, in what order we would like it served!
When the main course arrived, I was told that the carrot and orange soup I had ordered was no longer available and so I had got leek and potato instead. I accepted this and then had to go up to the counter and ask for some appropriate cutlery and the waitress argued that she had given us some!
The cold drinks we ordered to go with the main course never arrived so I had to go back to the counter and ask for them. By the time we had finished our main course the cold drinks finally arrived with an apology for the delay and I commented to the waitress that this was unacceptable.
We then had to ask for fresh tea to go with our cakes and when it was served our empty plates were not removed, presumably as some sort of protest at my complaints.
We were served by three sullen waitresses, two of whom were also argumentative - not what you expect as a customer.
A totally unsatisfactory experience and one which we shall not repeat. Avoid the place like the plague! Posted by Leigh Holding 2 months ago
