Latium

Having twice eaten excellent meals at Latium, with excellent service, I today tried to book a table. I called the restaurant at 12.25, 12.43, 14.33 and 14.42. Although ringing a considerable time the phone was never answered. Being in the area, I went in at around 14.55 to book. When I told the person at the desk what had happened, they waved at the restaurant and said we're very busy. They weren't. There were at least 5 empty tables and it was only ten minutes after I'd last called. Also my first call was at 12.25. Too busy to answer the phone at 12.25? They should be so lucky. I was then told we don't always hear the phone. So how do people book tables? There was a shrug - no apology, no smile, and the impression that it was my problem. I walked out. As a potential customer I phoned FOUR times and was still so keen to book I came in in person - and still got no satisfaction? Great job.
