I've never written a review before. But I have to now. I went to Pied a Terre last night, and I'm absolutely raving about it to anyone who will listen. Despite not being a Vegan, - actually an unabashed carnivore, we had the vegan tasting menu. I was initially mentally prepared to have to grab a burger on the way home, to fill up after what I imagined to be small plates and to get my meat fix. Nothing could have been further from the truth. From the bread and snacks that were served before the remaining 9 courses, to the little desserts and fantastic coffee at the end, I was blown away by the flavours, attention to detail and the service of every course. Not a single animal product throughout the meal, yet I left extremely satisfied and blown away by the flavours and combinations the kitchen had obviously painstakingly brought together. - Every course had me rolling my eyes in gratification over and over again Not knowing the total cost as it was jealously guarded by my beautiful companion, I can't comment on the value for money, but I can say that I'd happily miss a mortgage payment to have that experience again. So, I entered the restaurant in a slightly dismissive frame of mind. Never having been to a Michelin starred restaurant before, internally dismissive of "rabbit food" or "hippie food" I could have been extremely critical. I'm happy to say now, that I've been challenged in my pre conceptions. With the exception of some hot milk for my coffee (bad vegan), I ate an exquisite vegan meal, in a fantastic restaurant, with exceptional service. Very much a beer and steak man, I now know that I will seek to have that experience again and again and will be much more open minded of different ways of eating. I am extremely grateful to David and the team for a fantastic experience and wish them all the best for the future. And of course, a special thank you to my beautiful host. ;)

Our Review of Pied a Terre (March 2015)

Maintaining a consistently high level in a leading restaurant for years on end is no easy task. Having held (at least) one Michelin star since the 1993 guide, Pied a Terre certainly falls into that category. A small restaurant with a big history that's seen many stellar chefs pass through its kitchen, I was really looking forward to experiencing food from current head chef Marcus Eaves as I took my wife for a late Friday lunch....
