Sucre

This year, I decided to host my birthday at Sucre. I had been before a few years ago and remembered it as a good experience overall. However, after seeing some recent negative reviews, I started to doubt my choice and whether it would suit the occasion. I even visited shortly before the event to check the food and service. I’m writing this review to publicly thank the team, because the evening exceeded expectations. We had a very memorable celebration, and my guests were impressed by the atmosphere, food quality and quantity, and service throughout. There was no pressure on timing, and the team were flexible and accommodating with letting us decorate the table, which made the experience feel very personal. Most guests also ended up taking food home, as the portions were generous. The space is elegant, set in a beautiful historical building, with a relaxed, easy-to-talk-in atmosphere and pleasant music - something rare for the area. While the menu is simple and not particularly Instagram-focused, don’t be misled: the simplicity works, and the flavours are exceptional. One guest is vegetarian/pescatarian, and her dishes were even more visually striking than ours. Desserts were 5-star quality, and the cocktails and mocktails were outstanding. Overall, I would strongly recommend Sucre. It made hosting effortless and turned my birthday into a beautiful, memorable experience. A sincere thank you to the whole team for such excellent service.
