Fischer's

We went to Fischer’s on Marylebone High Street to celebrate my brother’s birthday, and I honestly can’t praise them enough. My brother has eating difficulties following treatment for mouth cancer, so I phoned ahead the day before to explain. From the moment we arrived, the care and kindness shown to him were exceptional. The staff had already thought about what might work best, checked in gently, and were more than happy to adapt dishes — blending food, softening textures, and asking thoughtfully whether something would be easier or more comfortable for him. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done with warmth and respect. The food itself was wonderful (including a delicious Wiener schnitzel), but what really stood out was how genuinely looked-after we felt. It was service at its very best — calm, compassionate, and completely unpretentious. There’s also a personal note for me: our late mother was Viennese, so visiting a proper Viennese restaurant always means a lot. Being able to share that experience with my brother, in such a supportive environment, made the day even more special. Thank you to everyone at Fischer’s for going above and beyond. It meant more than you probably realise and an especially big thank you to Terry Couch, who without his help, I really don’t think I could’ve pulled it off. We didn’t meet the chef but he must be pretty amazing too. I have been there before and that was fantastic too but I was worried about going this time and it couldn’t have turned out better
