**Review: Cavita — Taco Triumphs and Pricing Puzzles** Rating: ★★★☆☆ The night started on a high with **Spicy Margaritas** that were, quite frankly, flawless. They’re exactly what you want in a glass: punchy, balanced, and high-energy. The Food: Peaks and Pits The Beef Birria Taco was a definitive 10/10 and the hand-crafted corn tacos were superb—clearly, someone in the kitchen knows their way around masa. The chicken brochettes had a lovely char-grilled seasoning and a great saucy drizzle, but my enthusiasm hit a wall when I encountered a significant piece of chewy fat. Not exactly the "melt-in-your-mouth" moment I was hoping for. As for the rest, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The shared chicken looked the part with a great char, but the meat itself was a tad dry. The refried beans were tasty but leaned towards "soupy" and lacked the textural punch and seasoning I expected. Similarly, the Pink Fir Potatoes were decent, though the herb sauce was buried so deep at the bottom it was practically an archaeological find. For an authentic Mexican spot, I was also left waiting for a "chili hit" that never quite arrived. The Service & The Damage Service was a tale of two waitresses. One was lovely once she warmed to us; the other seemed to have a sixth sense for interrupting exactly when our conversation reached its most interesting point. The real sting, however, was the bill. At £100 a head, it’s a pricey outing. The wine mark-ups are bold (a £50 bottle of Gavi is a bit of a stretch), and the **automatic 15% service charge feels a little ambitious for a meal with this many "ifs" and "buts." Verdict:: Go for the Birria and the Margaritas, but maybe bring your own chili flakes and a "Do Not Disturb" sign for the table. Fantastic tacos, but for this price point, I expected a bit more precision in the kitchen and a little more rhythm in the service.
