PERFECT IF YOU'RE ON THE FAT JAB!
The place is beautifully decorated, the atmosphere easy to settle into, the staff are very informative / pleasant, the bar well stocked and the list of drinks endless and delicious. Entering beyond the curtain into the place creates a sense of being somewhere else for a moment and you begin to look forward to the food after you've eased into the night with some perfectly made cocktails whilst waiting to be seated.
The menu of food is thoughtfully created, however... the portions then come out, and you soon realise that this is going one of two ways, you're either going to leave a lot lighter with your wallet (not your weight) because of how much you'll need to spend to be full or you'll be getting food via Tinto (like we did) or a takeaway afterwards.
The food itself is nice but it felt a bit insulting to be charged what we did with what we had.
£6 - for two very small slices bread with dip.
£4 - for two croquetas the size of maltesers
£10 - for 6 pieces of gnocci in a small bowl of soup
£14 - for a Guernsey crab kalamasi which was a single item the length and thickness of an adult middle finger wrapped in thin cucumber.
The waiters kept asking if we would like a meat dish, but after seeing what we were getting with what the place was charging, were worried that a pork chop at £18 and lamb at £17 might come out as a single bite each like the crab and therefore didn't want to take the chance.
There was then a service charge (SC) of 10% to add on to everything too!
Our bill was upwards of £200.
The price for cocktails was reasonable but then with the SC make it one of the more expensive places on the island.
Either take a few quid off the items or fill out the dishes with more volume otherwise it might as well be just another cocktail bar.
If you're a person on the jab to help you lose wait this'll be right up your street providing you have deep pockets.
p.s. - extra tip, when using the toilets, be sure to check they're free and actually push the door with some force. I was waiting 15 mins before trying both doors to find they were both vacant. Would have also helped if they weren't unisex.
