The Star Inn

I cannot say enough about this absolutely lovely Inn in the middle of the Yorkshire countryside. We knew that the Star Inn boasted a Michelin Star restaurant, but we did not expect such charming accommodations. Our rooms were cosy, comfortable and well appointed. Even better, the common rooms were so inviting that we just wanted to sit on a sofa around the fireplace, chat and have a glass of wine or two. The breakfast in the morning is served around a massive round table in a room that used to accommodate cattle. The owners love of game hunting is evidenced in the decor throughout. A very short walk across the street is the thatched roof pub and dining rooms for the restaurant. This is another place you want to spend considerable time and we did.We opted for the 11 course tasting menu. That may sound like a lot (I was a bit full for the sweets) but it was so well balanced and delicious that every bite felt like a journey I wanted to take. They even made perfect accommodations for my husband who is allergic to shellfish. If the tasting menu is not your thing, I am positive that their Ala-carte menu is superb. In fact, their cheese selection was incredible on its own. I cannot recommend this Inn and restaurant enough for any traveler who loves the countryside and the pleasures of fine dining.
