The Martins Arms

The Martins Arms restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.5
We visited for lunch today. It was more on the off chance as we were in the area visiting a nearby kennels.
We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. A very attractive bar and combined dining area with log burning fire which were seated by. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The food was excellent. The crumble and ice cream, I didn’t enjoy, but it was clearly a quality effort - just not my personal preference of that type of dessert .
The Martins offers a warm, comfortable, and ambient environment with great food and good service. The loos were also spotlessly clean. I’m not sure if it is presenting itself as a restaurant with a small bar, or a pub with a small restaurant. When we asked what it was, we were told it was whatever we wanted it to be. Stars wise, for me, four is a fair appraisal based on our experience today. I would say the painting of a scowling Winston Churchill (is it him?) on the wall, I did find fairly disturbing.
