Oh Dear ! So we're visitors here , two veterans. One a state registered paramedic the other a business owner and self styled entrepreneur , now we don't cut about all smart everyday , we wore casual ! , we enter into the building and restaurant area, "A table for two, please," we ask cordially. Behind a female waitress there's an empty table , no reserved or booked sign , we're regarded like we're street urchins and something you find under your shoe , "no" the sentiment along with its feeling is felt by both of us ,she turns her back and walks off uninterested ! I feel embarrassed, to say the least , we leave chapters feeling pretty deflated. After a wander round town, we find a little wood cooked pizzeria, just the ticket , none judged , spoken to, and engaged with! Our journey back to the car goes past Chapters, I knock on the kitchen door from which behind comes a clearly annoyed little man ,I explain about my earlier experience his body language and demeanour suggests he's not really listening and I'm annoying him, he simply and aggressively supports his partners behaviour and dismisses our cause, after attempting to mediate with him he attempts to dismiss and belittle me once or twice more and with a frankly upsetting statement the cook declares he doesn't care about Veterans or Paramedics at all, part owner and chef dismisses this countries most respected.people His majesties former servicemen on their first visit to this town and it's eateries. I'm frankly disgusted and this kind of welcome and attitude towards two complete strangers whose apparel clearly isn't in keeping with expectations ! Hay on Wye is surrounded with Military History I'm sure it's current population will be not best pleased to find out that the towns highest 4.9 rated restaurant is not supportive of the Veterans community and the health care colleagues it probably relies on for a percentage of its revenue !
