Really lovely staff and pretty good service but the sole was really disappointing (especially given the additional supplement required). Very bland, no taste at all even though the fish was swimming in a cream based sauce. Vegetables were excellent and my partner said his roast beef was excellent although his Yorkshire pudding was slightly on the burnt side. Sticky toffee desert was excellent, dessert billed as crumble with custard didn’t actually have custard (it was more whipped cream) and the dessert itself tasted more like frozen key lime pie. We were a small table of 3 but saw lots of other tables served before us. Have been a few times in the past and food was much better, with more vegetarian options. Not sure we’d come again.

Our review of Chadwicks Inn Maltby (March 2025)

Whilst on a trip to the North East of England to visit relatives, I checked this very website for a family friendly, award winning restaurant to have lunch at on the way. Step forward the Chadwicks Inn Maltby, a renowned gastropub which has been under its current ownership since 2009, and which holds a Michelin guide listing as well as two AA rosettes. With credentials like that (as well as hundreds of positive reviews from regular punters) I was pretty confident of receiving some quality cooking as I rocked up for lunch with my wife and two young children, on a cold March Saturday....
