Forge Restaurant at Middleton Lodge

We had a truly incredible experience here in May for our anniversary dinner. We opted for the six-course tasting menu with the supplement, plus a wine flight for my partner (I don’t drink), and I was really impressed by how well I was looked after. The team were incredibly accommodating with both the alcohol-free options and my vegetarian diet, and were great at communicating with me ahead of time to make sure all our dietary requirements were covered. We arrived a little early and started with a drink in the bar before heading into the restaurant, where we were greeted with a handwritten anniversary card from the chef – such a thoughtful touch. Every dish we had was exceptional, but the savoury biscuit to start and the cold cheese course stood out as real highlights. Service throughout was faultless – professional, warm and perfectly paced. We never felt rushed or overly full, and the timing between courses was spot on. Special mention to the sommelier, who was lovely and made the wine experience feel really special for my partner. To finish, we moved to the spa/bar area for dessert and enjoyed a relaxed end to the evening in the pool house. We’ll definitely be returning – the tasting menu is not only delicious, but fantastic value and worth every penny.
