Fine dining in The Custard Factory. Kray Treadwell who was awarded Michelin Young Chef Of The Year 2021,is the chef patron. We have been wanting to visit here for some time. Seeing that we could have the tasting menu on a Sunday, this was the cue we needed. As it's very rare you can visit a fine dining establishment on a sunday. You could describe the restaurant as dark and moody. There's a seating area as you walk-in, to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and the first of three snacks. Then it's upstairs to our table where we had a prime view of the open kitchen. Unsually, Kray was our front of house server. He was in full-on 'matrie d' mode,although he did allow his chef to serve a couple of dishes. The welcome broth was very moorish and we could have easily eaten a full pan of it. Each course was delicious,with vibrant colours. Which made them stand out even more from the dark surroundings. With so many great restaurants in Birmingham you're spoilt for choice. Some get overlooked, like here. If you want somewhere a bit different that doesn't break the bank, this would be a great choice.
