The Witchery by the Castle restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.4
A sadly very mixed bag which left more to be desired than celebrated. The good: ambiance is cute, my first server was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, the pumpkin soup was delectable. The improvable: my seafood pie was watery. Either the fish had been frozen and not properly thawed or the sauce was too loose to start. I was looking forward to the tea given the single batch boast on the menu but the water had clearly been too hot and scalded the leaves leaving them bitter and I had to cover with cream and sugar. The tea was meant to be served with petit fours but was instead served with a chocolate. Not the end of the world as I ordered the tea for the tea’s sake but it would be nice if the menu was accurate. Finally the service was inconsistent. My first server was incredible and gave what I would consider to be fine dining quality service. Sadly my second server while not bad did not meet the quality of the first and the difference was notable. The meal would have been excellent and gotten a rave review without the later half.
