The Culpeper restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.3
We came for the Sunday roast and unfortunately it was a bit of a miss.
The starters we had were very pleasant, the scallop and the Comte croquettes were very nice and I’d recommend these.
For mains I opted for the chicken which came very dry so I asked if it could be replaced with the beef which came and unfortunately was gristly and tough to eat. The Yorkshire puddings, gravy and vegetables accompanying the mains were great however the roast potatoes were mixed with some being so underdone they were unpleasant to eat and others so overcooked in oil we couldn’t cut through their exterior.
Altogether the food was therefore quite a mixed bag but unfortunately the service didn’t really save it either. Neither during our starters or our mains did anyone come to ask how our food was and after I waved a staff member down to get the chicken replaced for being too dry, I wasn’t asked how my replacement beef dish was either. It did unfortunately feel like the bare minimum service was given but wasn’t egregious enough to warrant the removal of the discretionary service charge.
