Skylon restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.0
Beautiful restaurant with breathtaking views across the Thames. We went on a whim after a concert at the Royal Festival Hall.
The halibut carpaccio was excellent.
The salmon was also very good and the mash had truffle in it.
Deserts did not match the main and starter either in substance or presentation. Tasted nice but underwhelming. The poached pear was hard and very difficult to eat, as they had only provided a spoon and no fork. As our table was in a corner we could not get their attention for a fork. The custard with the pear was miserly.
The apple tart was nice but nothing to rave about.
My dining partner has a serious shellfish allergy and the restaurant were very alert and conscientious about ensuring there was no risk.
