Sheedy's offers a feel for the old ways of life in one of the most unusual parts of the Irish west coast. First built in the 1930s, Sheedy's is still run by the same gracious family. The inn has been very tastefully updated with period furniture, fine beds, and modern en-suite bathrooms. Sheedy's has a fantastic restaurant that serves locally sourced ingredients. An old-time pub with live, traditional Irish music is a short walk. It's an easy and scenic drive to the coast and its magnificent cliffs, a variety of 15/16th-century castles, and the "Burren" -- an expansive national park. Enjoy a great traditional Irish lunch with the friendly locals at Bofey Quinn's pub in Corofin. Galway is an hour+ north if you're in a hurry. Several ruins worth a visit lie along the way.
