Wilde's at The Lodge at Ashford Castle

A very disappointing experience and absolutely not worth the money. We had dinner at Wild's, and the quality-to-price ratio was terrible. The expensive rack of lamb was shocking. There was barely any meat on it, mostly bones. For that price, I expected a high-quality main course, not something that left me hungry. The fries were also extremely greasy, to the point that we couldn't finish them. What made the experience even worse was the service. Throughout the meal, the main waiter never came to our table to ask how everything was or whether we were enjoying the food. When I raised my concerns while paying, instead of apologising or even acknowledging the feedback, he responded rudely, saying that I should have checked the prices online before coming and questioning why I came in the first place. That level of customer service is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant associated with Ashford Castle. The restaurant itself was another disappointment. It seems to rely entirely on the Ashford Castle name. The interior lacked the atmosphere and elegance you would expect, no distinctive historic character, artwork, chandeliers, or anything that justified the premium prices. Overall, this restaurant charges luxury prices while delivering average or below-average food, poor service, and a forgettable atmosphere. I don't mind paying for exceptional dining, but this was nowhere near that standard. I would not recommend it and certainly won't be returning.
