Middlethorpe Hall and Spa

Wow, wow, wow! We knew this place was going to be good but we didn’t know just HOW good! The most impressive thing about the hotel is the service. It is second to none. They could not do enough for us, from the minute we set foot on the premises. So kind, so diligent. The grounds are idyllic, with manicured lawns, stately fir trees and deer roaming if you keep a look out. The house itself, is cloaked in history and beautifully elegant. We received an upgrade to a suite that we were not expecting. This was a lovely gesture since we were staying there whilst my partner had treatment at York hospital. The room was everything we could ask for. The hot water bottles brought to our room were a godsend - not because we were cold, but for pain relief. We used the spa and found the service on offer exceptional. Helen does the most wonderful massages and is able to work with any particular needs or health conditions. I had the gentlest of massages that eased my pain significantly. We had breakfast and our evening meal in the hotel. The fillet steak was outstandingly good. The best I’ve ever had. Eggs Benedict at breakfast was perfect. If only we could have stayed longer. But I feel certain we will return to what is in our opinion, one of the best hotels in the UK. Simply superb and not to be faulted.
