Michelin-starred and ranked No. 49 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, this spot delivers bold Mexican flavours using predominantly British ingredients. One of my first experiences with Mexican fine dining — and certainly one of the most memorable, with real depth, spice, and personality.
The dinner kicked off with a beautiful display of chillies commonly used in Mexican cuisine, followed by a creamy chilli-infused soup that was deeply flavourful and incredibly appetising - a comforting yet exciting way to start.
Standout dishes included the Tamal Colorado , silky corn custard with pig trotter glaze and Beluga caviar, perfectly balanced with fresh radish. The Langoustine Taco was a crowd favourite: juicy langoustine on a freshly made taco, finished tableside with its rich head juices.
The Quesadilla featured perfectly grilled short rib topped with black truffle and greengage salsa; I opted for the vegetarian dumplings instead (I prefer to avoid beef), which were equally satisfying. The Wagyu Huarache supplement impressed with tender wagyu and a smoky bone marrow sauce, though the handmade bread was slightly too bready for my taste.
Not every dish hit the same high, the cuttlefish “coconut” felt a little unnecessary, the mole duck was rich and tender but slightly salty, and desserts were creative yet forgettable.
We visited London to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday, and the team made it truly special from extra dishes to a beautiful glass of Madeira almost as old as him. While service in the main dining room felt a touch impersonal, the warm hospitality at the dessert counter ended the night on a high.
Innovative yet rooted, and at £180, fairly priced for the experience. Highly recommended for those looking for a refreshing fine-dining experience in London.
