Eleanore

We had an exceptional lunch at Eleanore yesterday.After it's recent refurbishment,with a new all day menu concept,the restaurant was full. With 16 intimate couverts,young slick front of house staff ,fabulous background jazz music,the scene was set for a great experience. June commented that her cream of Cauliflower soup was the best she'd ever had,I had the pork rillettes which was also delicious. Lamb rump and Hake were our chosen mains,both were absolutely outstanding, a side order of French fries and a lovely bottle of wine made our meal complete. We shared a portion of sticky toffee profiteroles for our dessert and as we headed outside into the sunshine on Leith,we both agreed that this was one of the best experiences we'd had . So good,we were back again on Saturday for lunch.Menus are constantly changing with what seasonal produce is available. I started with a delicious beef tartare while June went for the heritage tomato tart,both were very tasty. We both chose the lamb rump,cooked medium alongside some Denhead scottish asparagus and all the trimmings,very nice indeed. After a wee break, desserts were a chocolate mousse and a strawberry cheesecake which we shared between us and accompanied with a chilled glass of dessert wine to round of our meal. Once again,background music selection was a throw back to the 70's which had me tapping my feet throughout the whole meal,great choice.
