From the moment you arrive and step out of your car to the moment that you sadly have to drive away, every second spent at Le Manoir is absolutely sublime. The checkin was a delight, the warmest welcome you can imagine, topped off with a glass of Veuve Cliquot in the lounge while we waited for our room to be ready. We were then taken to our room to find that we had been upgraded to the Lemongrass suite with its own steam room. It’s a lovely room as you would expect. Such a nice surprise. We returned to the lounge for a snack and they kept topping up our fizz glasses, - at this rate we had better slow up or we’d be pickled before dinner! Later we had a tour our the cellars. The sommelier was fantastic and told us some fascinating things about how the wine trade works. Too much detail to repeat here. As you can imagine, dinner was amazing. We had a la carte rather than the tasting menu. All dishes were sublime. After a great night’s sleep we had a magnificent breakfast. Stand out was the eggs Benedict. All the pastries are made on site, the quality was outstanding. I must mention the staff who are simply wonderful. They are so polished but it is the homeliness and non stuffy informal way that they engage with you, like you are a house guest. Monsieur Blanc has a truly unique establishment here - this being our second visit in six years we wondered why we left it so long. Au revoir until next year!
