Having tried quite a few great restaurants over the years, this has easily been one of the most impressive dining experiences we’ve had. We started with the chicken parfait, followed by the gnocchi and sea bream for our mains, and finished with the lemon posset with strawberry sorbet. The chicken parfait was incredibly rich, smooth, and creamy. Paired with the sweet onion jam and crispy shallots, every bite was balanced. Gnocchi can often be hit or miss, but this was exceptional. Each gnocchi had a perfectly crisp exterior while staying soft and chewy inside. The broccoli was wonderfully fresh, and I especially loved the pickled broccoli stems, which added a refreshing acidity and crunch to the dish. The sea bream was impressive. It was cooked beautifully, with a delicate nutty aroma, while the fragrant pesto complemented both the fish and the buttery baby potatoes. To finish, the desserts were as impressive as the savoury courses. The lemon posset was silky smooth with just the right amount of tanginess, and the strawberry sorbet added a bright, refreshing fruitiness that brought the whole dessert together. We’re in the area for a camping trip until Sunday, and after such an amazing meal, we’ve already booked another table to come back before we leave. That’s probably the best compliment we can give!
