I've stopped in here on a quiet afternoon and were met with that lovely mix of relaxed service and real pride in the food. The oysters were fresh, clean, and beautifully presented with classic accompaniments that didn’t get in the way of the flavour. Simple done right. The roasted carrots surprised me — full of depth, sweetness, a touch of acidity, shallots and capers for lift. A dish that seems modest at first glance but shows real understanding in the kitchen. Then the steak. Perfectly cooked, deeply savoury and earty, well-rested, and sliced to perfection. No theatrics, just quality meat treated with respect. The sort of plate that makes you stop talking for a moment. Good beer and that sense of being unhurried — it all added up. This place has character without trying too hard. And they do Beaujolais Nouveau event!
