The bubbly, straight-talking Jamie Oliver first made a stir in the culinary world in 1997 when he made his debut on BBC's Nigel Slater's Real Good Food. Born in Clavering, Essex, he was educated in home-style cooking at a young age in his parent's pub, 'The Cricketers'. Jamie's culinary flair was evident from the start and on completing his training at Westminster Kingsway College, he worked his way up in several renowned establishments including Antonio Carluccio's 'Neal Street Restaurant' where he first encountered the rustic Italian cuisine that would come to define much of his career. Oliver's undeniable charm and palpable passion for wholesome, rustic fare constructed the runway for his television career. His break came with 'The Naked Chef' in 1999 on BBC, it was an instant hit and his laid-back approach to cooking struck a chord with millions. Following this success, Jamie Oliver established his empire of restaurants starting with 'Fifteen' in London which initiated the idea of training disadvantaged youths to give them a new lease of life in the restaurant industry. His franchise 'Jamie's Italian', which wanted to bring affordable, delicious Italian food to high streets across Britain was a hit initially but unfortunately met a disappointing end in 2019. Oliver, undeterred, maintains his culinary and television career with tenacity, with shows like 'Jamie's 30 Minute Meals', 'Jamie's School Dinners' and 'Jamie's Money Saving Meals' to name a few. He continues to revolutionise the industry and challenge the way we perceive home cooking, underlining his status as a stalwart of British cuisine.
