The Restaurant at The Rock Hotel

Lovely decor throughout the whole hotel. Well maintained and very clean. Great terrace for watching the sunset from. I was disappointed yesterday by the food and the service at the terrace restaurant. I arrived around 5.30pm, weather was lovely and we decided to dine on the terrace. We had a tall male server with dark hair, I didn't catch his name First of all, the table we realised after sitting down was dirty with onion on the table. He only gave us 1 menu between us. Took a while to return to take our order. The table was not wiped, and there was no table cloth put down. I went for the champagne afternoon tea, which the champagne was very nice. It consisted of 3 small sandwiches, 2 cakes one of which was a pastel de nata, with fruit on top and a very sweet Victoria sponge, which I believe to be brought in, not made on-site. There was a Scone also that was very dry. No choice of tea is offered either. No one came to check in if everything was OK. It took approximately 30 minutes to get our plates to be cleared away after we ate. I even saw the waiter pop his head out of the door. He looked in our direction, and I put my hand up to get his attention, however, he just turned around and went back inside. We really fancied a few cocktails, but as the server never returned to ask if we would like to order another drink, we got fed up paid and left after sunset. I always tip for good service and food, however on this occasion, I didn't believe a tip was warranted, so I did not leave one Having been there to dine previously and had excellent food and service by the friendly and attentive server Abdullah, this time was very disappointing indeed.
