The Old Bank

The restaurant is very much at the bistro end of interior design all hard surfaces so noise carries. It’s very popular so I recommend booking. The tasting menu features robust well seasoned food, beautifully cooked. The menu is well balanced with a variety of different textures and service is nicely unhurried. Wine is excellent value and had I not been driving I would have enjoyed the wine pairing. Small gripes were as you can see from the photos the restaurant is really dark. Plus I like to use the bread to mop up sauces or have a spoon but the bread was served before the canapés and no more was offered. Most tasting menus give bread after the canapés but that probably says more about my greed than the restaurant!
