Talk of the Town at the The Ambassador Hotel

This was our second visit to this hidden gem, and once again it fully lived up to its new found reputation. Formerly Tiger on the Wall, the space has clearly undergone significant investment, and the results are immediately noticeable. From the moment you step inside, the attention to detail is evident. To the left is the impressive “Talk of the Town” restaurant, and to the right, “The Other Room” bar. The bar is exceptional—well stocked with an impressive selection of rare single malts, wine and a cocktail menu that genuinely makes choosing difficult. The food offering is equally strong. Having enjoyed the bar menu on this visit, we’re already looking forward to returning to experience the main restaurant menu. What truly elevates Talk of the Town is the service, closely followed by the quality of the food and wine. On both visits, Glen, Liam, Athenia, Neil, and Ruben have provided service that goes above and beyond. They remembered us by name after meeting us only once and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. On our most recent visit, their attentiveness was exceptional—they not only recognised us but remembered our preferred drinks. As someone with a commercial fishing background, I can say with confidence that the prawns here are the best I’ve tasted anywhere. The Charcuterie Platter was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. Although we didn’t need more food, we couldn’t resist trying the Mulmuly Kebab—and it did not disappoint. This is truly a first‑class venue, and one we’re delighted to have as our new favourite local spot (with, the absolute best prawns in the UK!!) Kind regards, Lewis & Catriona
