Saga restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.2
A group of us went to Saga on a Friday night in October and unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. Apart from the restaurant being quite quiet and lacking atmosphere, there were issues with several dishes. The spring roll starter sat in a soy dressing that totally overpowered the taste of the duck and was very salty. The scallop starter was described as king scallops and what arrived was 4 very small ,quite bland, scallops. On the positive side, my duck main course was excellent and the fishes and venison dishes were well received. However more issues with the food included the sides (the buttered kale was 6 leaves of cold kale, and the glazed carrots looked old and shrivelled), and my chocolate fondant dessert was quite dry and the accompaniment of orange clotted cream tasted a little synthetic and not orange flavoured. The service was very good so really it was the food and ambience that let it down I am sorry to say.
