Donia

Donia restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.5
Donia is situated at the top of hustling, bustling Kingly court. The decor is simple with a very odd, oval couch in the middle which isn't comfortable from some angles. Then there's an open kitchen pass at one end and a bar at the other.
The kitchen is quiet, steady, food is produced quickly and the team seemed to work efficiently. I'd also say the same for the wait staff, but they did forget about a drink I had ordered. However water was topped up constantly and everyone seemed really nice.
On to the food: scallops were great, dumplings were excellent, I need 10 more and a bowl of rice for the stunning sauce. I didn't like the granita on the oysters, even the tiniest amount didn't work and sadly there was some very chunky bits of ice in there that had to be removed.
The mushroom arancini was really good, lots of visible mushrooms setting the standard for other arancini. The lechon crackling was perfect but the meat didn't have too much flavour. The sauce was lovely. The chicken was also very decent and the sauce was delicious.
Overall, it was a good experience and whilst the £s added up, I do think it's in line with quality dinners found in London at the moment and there really was some particularly delicious sauces that left me wanting more.
