A great dining experience with some impressive dishes. The highlight of the meal was my partridge breast starter, which was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with a squash mash and other accompaniments. The pork dish came with a tasty sauce, though the meat itself was bordering on dry. My partner's fish was nice, though (as the photo shows) the sear was slightly uneven. The chicken, curry and mango croquette snacks were well presented and tasty. Desserts were nice, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was generally great. The restaurant manager/maƮtre d' was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the food and the restaurant, though there were language barriers with one or two of the other servers who were unable to explain something on our plate!
An aspect of service that could be improved is to take note of which dishes were ordered by particular diners, rather than 'auctioning' dishes when they arrive at the table and asking diners who ordered what. Music that is more congruent with the environment would also be appreciated, rather than cheesy pop covers. These two simple changes to the service aspect could make for a much more relaxed and elegant experience.
Overall, 215 Kitchen has done a nice transition towards a more casual, local restaurant vibe. There were many memorable aspects, though also one or two aspects that could be improved. 4* is appropriate, in a large part due to the hero of the meal that was the partridge breast.
