The Smithfield

We had a truly lovely meal at The Smithfield on Sat 1st Aug. The two servers who were on shift were attentive whilst not being pushy, and were happy to explain the menu in detail. I really liked the pace at which the food came out - we ordered the Focaccia, then two of the smaller plates, two larger plates, and two desserts, and were in the restaurant for 2 hours. So if you are in a rush or have another reservation after for drinks somewhere else, just keep that in mind. It seems to be a menu designed for sharing and having little bits of everything, which I enjoyed when going with my partner. I am veggie and thought the selection was very tasty and imaginative whilst using seasonal produce. The menu was dated, so it may change depending on the produce of the day which I love. Seeing the huge focaccia resting at the kitchen surface and lovely big slices being cut off as it was ordered was great as you know it is truly fresh and homemade. Everything was delicious! My standout dish was the Isle of Wight tomatoes. Oh, and order the Sticky Toffee Pudding - it may have been the best dessert i’ve ever had! Once we had finished with the food, we moved over to the bar area and stayed for another hour to take advantage of the 2 for £15 spritzes. Nice selection of beers on tap including Modelo which you don’t get in many places. Really recommend, and we will be back! Thank you Smithfield for a lovely evening 😊
