The Oyster and Fish House restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.2
Had dinner here on August bank holiday 2024 but the restaurant has gone downhill considerably since I last visited 4 - 5 years ago.
Service was poor (although staff did appear to be trying their best). Nobody at reception to welcome us when we arrived, empty tables around us had not been fully cleared down and one of our appetisers arrived after our main courses had been served despite us asking after it twice.
The menu was uninspiring (plain chargrilled fish or fish & chips) and the food was not very well cooked. My fish soup tasted like it had a massive glug of raw Brandy in it and the chargrilled fish looked like it had been cooked in an incinerator! The deserts were equally unimaginative; Chocolate mousse, summer berries or ice cream.
I’ve always been a fan of Mark Hix and regularly visited his London restaurants but something has gone very wrong at the Oyster & Fish House. Hopefully he will be able to get back in there and sort out the problems returning it the place it once was.
