The Gunroom Restaurant located at Plas Dinas Country House, the former home of Lord Snowdon in the beautiful scenery and epic adventures of Caernarfon, North Wales

Attention to detail is of great importance, as is the exceptional flavour that Daniel Ap Geraint and his team of chefs create. Each ingredient, each mouthful, each hidden course is carefully considered, providing a hybrid 8-course taster menu, unique fine dining experience here in North Wales.

Each sitting commences in the Drawing Room, so please arrive 30 minutes prior to your sitting to enjoy the full experience.

Dinner at the Gunroom Restaurant is served daily between the months of April & October and then December (excludes Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day) and then Tuesday to Saturday during November and then again January to March. Sittings are available at 6pm and 8pm. Arrive half an hour before so you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink and canapes in either the beautiful Drawing Room or intimate Gunroom Bar, which features a selection of trendy Cocktails and delectable Gins as well as other spirits and wines. The Gunroom Restaurant was awarded an AA Notable Wine List Award in 2024 and 2023.

Our monthly changing menu uses only the freshest seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Distinct choices of starter, main and dessert are interspersed with delicious chefs choice courses creating a unique dining experience that balances sumptuous indulgence with individual variety. A hybrid taster menu. The restaurant was added to The MICHELIN Guide back in April 2022 and the team have since retained their place in the coveted guide.

Reservations are essential to avoid disappointment so please ensure that you book online or give the team a call on 01286 830 214. Should you have specific dietary requirements then please do inform the team at the time of booking. With enough notice our experienced Chef will create your very own menu just for you.

Minimum age of 12 years for evening dining.

We enjoyed the evening overall for a birthday celebration. The main course meat and fish were well cooked. The sides were a disappointment. The beef fat fries too dry and powdery and the broccoli a little overcooked with covered with a powdery hard cheese. I found a piece of crab shell in my main course. The entremets were interesting some delicious others odd. Nice bit of gastro theatre with the smoked butter ( won't add spoiler here!). The deserts were excellent. Refreshing and indulgent at the same time. Made us consider a repeat visit for afternoon tea. I feel a bit mean about the 3 * for service and we did tip because the host and the female waiter were great at the start and during the meal. Unfortunately we were on first sitting and the staff were rushing around to prepare for the second sitting. I didn't appreciate being ignored when my coffee needed replacing owing to it being ridiculously weak ( when I poured it I thought it was tea!) We mentioned the service at the end but didn't complain otherwise because we didn't want to spoil the evening.
