Rick Stein, Barnes

Rick Stein, Barnes restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.4
We had a lovely Irish lady Alice serving us that night, absolutely amazing. 5 stars for her attentiveness and care for her customers . Thanks Alice . The food however wasn't up to par. The mackerel fillet starter wasn't really a fillet but more like 3 very small cut pieces off a mackerel fillet .I know this is a top star restaurant but the size was ridiculous .A fillet was advertised on the menu and that's not what I got . Not to mention that the food was rather bland and not well salted. The mussels however were exquisite. Very fresh and delicious. The main course of the fish and chips was great. Probably the best I have had in a very long time. Also the issue with the salt arose. I ordered the seafood gratin which again as a main course should be bigger than a few mouthfuls. Very nice but one prawn and a scallop and some cod really not a main course but more like a starter.
