Latest review:

We visited here one Friday for afternoon tea and left satisfied. There’s plenty of parking around the rear of the hotel as well as being within easy walking distance of the main public carpark on Park Street. As soon as we entered the staff behind the reception desk showed us to the reserved table in a lounge area off the main dining room. This was nice and was a good mix between being traditional and modern, with the other groups of people providing a nice relaxing atmosphere. Once all the drinks and plates had been served the table felt a little small but at least everything was clean. The food was served in the true traditional style and was all of good quality. The sandwiches all had soft bread, the scones were warm with plenty of cream and jam, and there were a good number of large cakes to round things off. Tea was served in pots to share between two, rather than individually but they were large enough for a couple of cups each. It would have been a nice touch to have a spoon or similar to serve the sugar cubes, rather than having to use fingers. For those not drinking tea the staff were good at checking for refills, although an order was got wrong. All the waiting staff were friendly and the whole experience was relaxing. It offered reasonable value as long as you didn’t deviate off the menu - additional soft drinks for example were pricey for what they were. Overall it’s a smart place in the village though and I’d consider it for a future occasion.
