Margaret's restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.9
It was a dark and stormy night and we didn't have a reservation. We were very lucky to find that Margaret's had a cancellation. Fabulous food and super service. There is a set menu with tapas style starters. We had tempura pumpkin, red pepper compote and hummus with toasted pine nuts with the most delicious soft foccacia with crispy crust to start. There is a choice of mains. We had the short rib of beef and to finish off the blue cheese. There is a wonderful wine list with classic and new world choices. I loved the Cabernet sauvignon from Margaret River and my husband loved the Zinfandel from Paso Robles. The cocktails were great too - recommend their spicy margarita and their negroni. The Chateau Montifaud Vieux Pineau des Charentes Rouge was a lovely accompaniment to the cheese. Really loved the set menu for introducing dishes that you wouldn't normally try. The only thing I would change would be to have more of that delicious jus with the beef! Thank you to Keira, Flora & the chefs for fitting us in and treating us to a really special evening.
