Dulse Leith restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.5
I did raise a complaint in writing to Dulse, 5 days later with Zero response i decided to give others a head up of an expensive plate of fish bones and our disappointing experience at Dulse Leith - Here goes.....I’m writing in regard to our recent dining experience at your restaurant. Our booking reference is below, and we were seated in the first booth on the left as you enter.
To begin on a positive note, the blonde waitress who took our order was lovely – friendly and welcoming.
However, the meal itself left us very disappointed. Both my partner and I ordered the Turbot, unaware it would be served on the bone, and riddled with lots more bones – something we feel should have been clearly pointed out when ordering. My partner asked for the bones to be removed, but unfortunately, when the dish was returned, several still remained.
Additionally, my fish was significantly undercooked – not just slightly rare, but noticeably raw in parts. For a dish priced at £55, we expected much better quality and attention to detail. When ordering we where asked we believe what weight of fish we’d like, not realising that it wasn’t the weight it was the price, £55.00 for a plate of fish bones – it wasn’t great
What made the experience more frustrating was that no one checked in to see if our meals were satisfactory. When the plates were cleared, the waitress didn’t ask if everything had been okay – which it clearly wasn’t.
We also noticed another table who had ordered lobster and seemed similarly disappointed, which only reinforced our impression.
It wasn’t until later that we realized just how expensive the meal had been – nearly £160 for two mains that were far below expectations. Had we known the market fish was almost double the price of the hake or coley, which where price circa £25 on average, we would have appreciated a heads-up when ordering. Not the best experience
We left feeling let down and frustrated – not just by the food, but by the overall experience. We had looked forward to our first visit to Dulce, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to its reputation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously to help improve the experience for future diners.
