D'Olier Street restaurant reviews

Average rating: 4.9
Truly one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever dined at - and I’ve been to many Michelin and non Michelin places in the past few years. I had the standard set menu of the day and the majority of the dishes were so bad that we couldn’t finish them and returned them, which I’ve never done at any other Michelin or even non Michelin restaurant. Felt extremely experimental but not in a good way - more in a ‘this makes no sense and is just very mediocre’ way. And there were bits of shell in my lobster dish. One piece I would’ve ignored, but I continued to take bites of the dish and there were just more and more that I simply spit them out and returned the dish. No replacement, 0 acknowledgment of the issue from staff.
Perhaps the food just wasn’t catered to our palate - overly salty and bland, and shells. But the service was comically horrific as well. It was like every server’s first day on the job, and a few of them had incredibly bad attitudes about it as well. Often didn’t understand ingredients used and constantly had to return to the kitchen to ask. Told me there wasn’t dairy in the dish when it was literally a chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Pushed the drinks menu down our throats, and again before dessert - then when asked if tea/coffee for dessert was part of the tasting menu or cost extra, the server didn’t know. When the bill came, we were mistakenly charged extra for still water when we hadn’t ordered any, and got told it was a common mistake for it to be auto-added. Dragged my friend’s coat on the floor upon checkout. I could go on.
For the 128 euro price, I wouldn’t come again for a quarter of that price. Huge regrets. Would be shocked if they didn’t lose their star soon. What an overall joke of an experience.
By the way, they can’t cook vegetables. Don’t get the vegetarian menu, it’s god awful.
