The Orangery at Victoria Square

We were greeted by Head Waitress Margo who set the bar in terms of first class,but unintrusive service which was extremely refreshing and made us feel totally at home. The food was very nice,I felt the butter bean and saffron soup,was just too heavy on the saffron completely overpowering the subtle flavour of the beans.My twice baked souffle was tasty enough,well garnished and thoroughly enjoyable. We both went for the Venison pie.it was not whi was expecting, but certainly not in a bad way.A home made shortcrust pastry shell was piled high with tender pieces of meat and gravy,adorned by a a massive disc of mashed tatties and a lovely selection of seasonal veg,including cavalo Nero,kale,golden beets,cauliflower florets,We both cleaned our plates😋. The only disappointment was my Dessert.An uninspiring cheesecake with a completely tasteless sorbet,and a slice of pineapple that still had the indigestable core still attached let me down as the previous two courses had been very nice indeed.June however hit the jackpot with the Date and walnut tart,absolutely delicious,with a subtle taste of micro lemon balm rounding the whole dish off. Looking for somewhere to go in Stirling for a special event,under the the supervision of Margo and her young assistant Waitress,you won't be disappointed, highly recommended.
