Staff were wonderful but we were very disappointed with restaurant. I was really looking forward to this dining experience, after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor. I booked my Husband and I for the late seating (9:00pm) for our new year's eve dinner. The restaurant was cozy and charming enough, however, the air was filled with smoke (that appeared to be coming from the kitchen somewhere within the restaurant.) There was a set a menu of two courses for €40 and three for €45, we chose the two courses, and thank goodness we did - it was, at least 40mins between getting served each course. (We sat down to eat at 9:10 and completed eating our two courses at 11:05.) I ordered the fish cakes for my starter - while lovely in presentation, the two small cakes (comprised mostly of potato) lacked in flavour presence of fish. My husband ordered the seafood chowder, which was also very small in size but, for him, was 'lovely' -- but he's never one to complain about food. (I had a taste and thought it was average, also lacking in flavour -- well below average considering the cost). Our mains were more substantive, and richer in flavour. By the end of our meals I was feeling very stuffy from the smoke in the air and, my husband and I both agreed that even though the main course was better than our starters, our overall dining experience was no good (he, surprisingly, said it was the worst dining experience for him) -- and poor value for the money. I'm sure the restaurant is lovely at other times but this was just not a good experience for us.
