The Galley

We came down from London with friends for a seaside trip and honestly did not expect to find somewhere as special as Galley Topsham. It ended up being one of the highlights of the whole weekend. The oysters and scallops were incredibly fresh, generous in portion, and priced far more reasonably than we expected. Genuinely, if you had this same quality of seafood, cooking, and service in London, you’d easily be paying three or four times the price. It felt like amazing value for the level they deliver. The location makes it even better, right by the harbour in a beautiful historic building full of character. It’s the kind of place that feels perfect for a long lunch or dinner with friends and family. Chef Han was fantastic — clearly very experienced, talented, and passionate about what he does. He was also warm and welcoming, which really set the tone for the whole meal. The rest of the team were just as lovely: attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared that everyone had a great time. Would absolutely recommend Galley Topsham to anyone in the area. We’ll definitely be back.
