Restaurant Elm

We decided to try somewhere new for date night. I've always loved Elm as a coffee shop but it has fairly recently pivoted, as a few coffee shops have, offering evening food. Headed up by Nathan Wall previous head chef at Fischer's Baslow Hall, where he garnered three AA rosettes and a Visit Peak District Taste Gold award. Menu offerings come in a four and 7 course offering with pescatarian and vegetarian versions available. There's also a well versed list of natural and organic wines that taste delicious and have cool labels and let be honest cool labels do matter The food was cooked as expected to a very high standard and every dish was great. I particularly enjoyed the scallop with green nahm jim one of my favourite proteins with Thai flavours never is going to disappoint. The Jasmine tea and ginger fruit cake with Baron Bigod cheese was fully committed to the ginger with an almost Parkin like quality. Finally the blackcurrant sorbet gave vibes of the top part of a fruit pastel ice lolly (in a really good nostalgic type way) but with refinement and additional flavours of lemon verbena elevating it further. A very enjoyable night and a great addition the Sheffield restaurant scene. I believe they have just added some lunch services to their offering which I believe makes it eligible for review by AA I'm sure rosettes should follow
