The Glasshouse Restaurant at Cromlix

We booked an afternoon tea for two at 2:30pm on a Thursday and arrived a bit early. We parked the car in carpark to the left of the main house. Bays are marked out. On using the garden entrance from the car park we were greeted in the lobby by a staff member who suggested we explore the house a little before going to table. So we were directed to the chapel first then upstairs to the games room. Everywhere is highly decorated and chapel is still very much a religious place. After a walk about we were met and taken to table, but not quite ready so out to drinks lounge to wait again. Finally ushered in and seated. A waiter took our drinks order and he returned with a coffee and highland rooibos tea in a teapot. We waited for half an hour for the actual food to arrive before asking a waiter what had happened to it. We then had further to wait while it was prepared and served. We were offered complimentary drinks because of the error that caused the delay. The food was certainly different from normal tea, very varied tastes and textures. The cakes were very enjoyable. There was some management required for the bill before leaving at approx 4:30pm.
