Forget Michelin stars, this is better!
We wondered why this little restaurant was always booked solid (we booked weeks ago), it’s small around 30 covers and the food is renowned to be of high quality. We where met by Wendy, owner who’s hubby Ken is the chef. Wendy is a scream, full of whit and friendly humour, perfect in her roll of front of house.
The short menu is full of surprises and changes frequently, we ordered starters of saddle of Hare and Cod in coconut curry sauce with a poached egg, absolutely delicious. The mains of Duck breast, bacon bits, savoury sausage and pigs cheek with pieces of loin, all cooked to perfection. Ken really performs his magic of mixing flavours, textures and adding the perfect seasoning. Prices really don’t reflect the quality of the food, our starters at £7 each and mains of £18 and £17 with a very good bottle of wine, a total of £67.25 was very reasonable. That’s why this restaurant is always booked solid every day it’s open, no exception. If you don’t book you are going to be disappointed.
